There’s a kind of beauty that happens only when people come together—when creativity and conversation intertwine, when laughter fills the air, when we pause long enough to enjoy one another’s presence.
As a planner and designer, so much of my work revolves around creating space for others—making sure every guest feels welcomed, every detail flows seamlessly. But this evening at Clyde’s Willow Creek Farm in Bealeton, Virginia was something different. It was a chance to gather with peers, to slow down, and to experience the very thing I love helping others find: connection.

The setting itself inspired everything that followed. Clyde’s has a natural warmth—stone, wood, soft light—that feels grounding and alive. I wanted to honor that feeling through a design that reflected nature’s quiet beauty: moss and mushrooms layered with candlelight, soft greens and warm woods coming together in a way that felt intentional and organic.

But more than any single element, it was the atmosphere that made the night memorable. There was a sense of ease, of gratitude. Conversations flowed between planners, florists, photographers—people who understand the rhythm of this work and the joy it brings. For once, we weren’t creating for someone else. We were simply at the table.
We shared dinner, stories, and the kind of laughter that lingers. And as I looked around, I kept thinking: this is what it’s all for. Every event, every long day, every detail—it’s all about bringing people together in meaningful ways.

That evening reminded me that design is, at its best, an act of care. Not in the way of perfection, but in the way of presence—a quiet attention to how beauty can make people feel at home.
