Each year when December arrives, I find myself craving warmth — the kind that doesn’t just come from twinkling lights or the scent of pine, but from the sense of togetherness that fills our home. Decorating for Christmas has become less about creating a perfect look and more about setting an atmosphere of peace, wonder, and welcome.
This season, our home feels especially joyful. The dining room glows in traditional red and green—classically festive, yet layered with textures and patterns that make it feel timeless. In the living room, the mood softens into a whimsical mix of French blue, soft pinks, and greens. It’s cheerful but calm, a reflection of how I want our family to feel this time of year — rooted, creative, and at ease.

We have two trees this year — one tucked into the corner of our living room and one gracing the dining room. Each one tells its own story, a mix of heirloom ornaments collected from our first year of marriage, handmade touches, and little details that catch Norah’s eye. The staircase garland, woven with ribbon and twinkle lights, feels like a quiet invitation upward, a moment of beauty tucked into the rhythm of everyday life.

As I walk through our home in the evenings, when everything is still and the lights are glowing softly, I’m reminded that hospitality begins long before guests arrive. It starts with how we care for the spaces we live in; the way we light candles, the textures we layer, the peace we cultivate. My hope is that our home reflects that sense of calm celebration: joy that’s steady, not hurried, and beauty that invites you to linger.

More than anything, I want this season to be one of presence — of noticing the glow of the tree, the laughter around the dinner table, and the holiness tucked inside the ordinary. Our home may be full of color and pattern, but what matters most is the warmth that fills it. This Christmas, that’s what I’m celebrating: not perfection, but peace.
